Creative photo ideas for May: 02 Shoot a dramatic seascape
Get started today
* Experiment with shutter speeds – a speed of 0.3 seconds is great for capturing texture and wave formations.* Use an aperture of f/16 or narrower to ensure maximum depth of field in more conventional coastal scenes.
* Take filters; Chris swears by a 0.9 ND and an ND Grad.
* Experiment with white balance. You can add a bit of blue in the colour temperature to give the scenes a cooler look, but make sure you don’t go overboard.
* Use dodging and burning to enhance the contrast and experiment with Curves for a dramatic, but not over-processed, effect.
